Check out the 6th of October 2012 edition here

19 May 2012. Museums, galleries, monuments and archaeological sites in Rome and throughout Italy open their doors to the public free of charge on the night of Saturday 19 May from 20.00 until 02.00, with last admission at 01.00. Rome’s fourth consecutive edition of Notte dei Musei involves more than 90 of the capital’s state, civic and private museums, historic buildings, libraries and foreign cultural academies. The permanent and temporary shows are enlivened by concerts, theatrical and dance performances, readings, screenings, lectures, guided tours and workshops. Among the capital’s venues participating this year are the Capitoline Museums, MACRO, Centrale Montemartini, Galleria Borghese, Palazzo Barberini, Castel S. Angelo, La Sapienza University, the National Gallery of Modern Art, Mercati di Traiano, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Casa del Cinema and Casa del Jazz. The world-wide event has taken place annually since 2005 and this year includes over 3,000 museums and 40 countries. Last year’s event in Rome attracted over 200,000 people. A full list of participating museums in Rome and across Italy is available from 1 May on www.comune.roma.it, www.museiincomuneroma.it, www.beniculturali.it, or tel. 060608.
