France sticks to November for breathalyser date

All vehicles in France must be equipped with a breathalyser by 1 November. At present there are shortages in supermarkets and pharmacies so the date has been extended from 1 July. There are no plans to extend it further.

In some cases deliveries have been running several months behind schedule but suppliers now say that they should have enough equipment to satisfy demand before November.

Fake kits made in China have recently been confiscated at Charles de Gaulle airport.

A kit costs €1-2 and people who do not have one in their vehicles by 1 November risk a €11 fine.
